Building What’s Next: A Look at the Future of Chemicals

Things are heating up—literally. To better understand where the industry is headed, we sat down with Paul Landers, Category Director of Chemicals at The Malco Group.

What originally drew you to tools that support the trade? 

Paul: I’ve always been drawn to products that solve real problems for trade pros. I enjoy working through technical issues and turning them into practical solutions that help technicians work faster or more reliably. That’s transitioned well into my role here at The Malco Group.


How has feedback from technicians in the field shaped the way you approach product development?

Paul: Contractor feedback keeps product development grounded. I value the frontline interaction because it helps connect strategy to what is happening in the field, whether that means improving a product, changing how it is used, or simplifying the solution.


What excites you most about joining The Malco Group and leading the strategy and growth of the chemicals category?

Paul: What excites me most is the strength of The Malco Group’s brands and the credibility they’ve built with trade professionals. We have a unique opportunity to bring solutions together across product categories, making it easier for customers to access the products they need from one trusted partner. For the chemicals category specifically, that creates a strong foundation for growth while allowing us to deliver more complete, practical solutions that make a real difference in the field.


Where do you see the biggest opportunities today to improve chemicals and solutions for technicians in the field?

Paul: I see the biggest opportunity in taking complex challenges technicians face in the field and making the chemical solution as simple, effective, and reliable as possible. That could mean improving application methods to make products easier and faster to use or helping technicians choose the right chemical solution for the job. There’s also a real opportunity to bring chemicals together with complementary products across The Malco Group portfolio, giving trade pros a more complete solution that improves system performance, simplifies maintenance, and gets the job done more efficiently.


Outside of work, what’s something you’re passionate about or enjoy doing in your spare time?

Paul: Outside of work, I enjoy reading.
